100 Word Challenge

A 100 word challenge is where you have to create a short piece of writing in 100 words or less using the provide prompt. Here is mine!

Slush. Slosh. Gumboots punching the snow on a clear winters morning, rolling three balls of snow, each one gradually getting bigger. 'Its body is formed. Time for a face and some arms', I think to myself.  Placing two icy sticks and stones on the snowman, I sense something is missing. "A carrot nose!", I cry aloud. I walk into the convenience store across the road to buy a carrot from the shopkeeper but, "I'm afraid it's the last one" he said, referring to a carrot in a little boy's hand. I sigh. "I guess the snowman'll have to be nose less!".

Onomatopoeia Poems

Oink! Honk! Smash! Crack! Onomatopoeia is a type of poetry which includes sound words that sound how they are spelled. This term at school we are learning about poetry as well as writing lots of our own poems. Onomatopoeia is the first type of poetry we explored, coming up with lots of different sound words such as ping, thwack and squelch. Here is a little onomatopoeia poem of my own! Listen to it and see what different sound words you can hear!
